Day 1: Jupiter Artland
How to integrate tech while keeping people off their phone:
- Some sort of AR glasses that plug into the charging port of the phone, allowing the user to
keep the phone in their pocket
- AR glasses allow the user to see the art pieces in a whole new way, with interactive
descriptions and accompanying images in real time
- Have different physical tech that is tailored to each art piece that would add to the
message and feeling that they are trying to convey

What do you love?:
- Weeping Girls by Laura Ford
Why’s it impacting you?:
- The scattered nature of these statues was really unforgettable
- The lack of faces really added to the creepy feeling it was going for
- The design with the hair covering the entire head/face contributed to its impact and
   message
Adjectives describing thoughts:
- Creepy, mysterious, unsettling, intriguing
What’s okay?:
- Suck the Neck by Anish Kapoor
Is it interesting or boring?:
- A bit boring, just a hole
- Kind of neat how you can’t see the bottom
- The cage adds a bit of depth to it, but overall just feels a bit bland to me
Art critique and how it makes you feel:
- It doesn’t particularly make me feel one way or another
- The use of one color and lack of interesting things going on make it a bit boring
Find one you hate:
- Over Here by Shane Waltener
If you don’t like it, explain why:
- It’s too simple and the message doesn’t even work for me
- The hole in the middle shows a view that is being covered by a huge branch
- A giant spider-web doesn’t seem very creative to me personally
Day 2: Jupiter Artland Reflection
Day 3: Street Performer Research
What is a Street Performer?
A person that deliberately puts on a show for others, in a setting of their own choice.
A street performer usually has a certain skill that they excel in and have practiced for a long time.
Some perform with goals simply to make money, and others could be to entertain or spread ideas/messages
Identify the Taxonomy of Street Performers
There are main categories and subcategories that can, in one way or another, explain the main feature of a performer. One word cannot describe the whole show, however there are usually certain categories that tie performers together.
How could your team connect to a street performer during the festival?
We could attend the show and be attentive during the performance
Interact with the performer during the performance, depending on what the show is. I.E. participate in a magic trick
Talk to the performer outside of the performance and listen to what they have to say
Identify five interview questions for a street performer
How do you feel about audience interaction within your performance?
What do you think about other ways of payment aside from cash (card, mobile pay)?
What is your biggest personal struggle, being a street performer?
What are you trying to convey/what is your goal with your performance? If anything?
What connects you to other street performers?
How did you get into street performing?
What do you do to stand out compared to other performers?
If you could change anything within the festival, what would it be?
Identify five Likert statements
It’s easy to take payment as a street performer
Being a street performer is rewarding
It’s easy to gain an audience while performing
I compare myself to other performers around me
I've been performing for many years
How does a street performer collect money?
They often collect cash tips in containers (trays, hats, buckets etc)
More professional performers with higher production values tend to have more options, such as cashless payments
Go fund me page
Identify five research questions of your own
What genre of performances are seemingly the most common?
Where are the most concentrated areas of performers during the festival?
Do performers engaging their audiences find more success?
How long does the average performer typically spend doing their show throughout the day?
What genre of performances does the general audience gravitate towards the most?
Do the performers perform elsewhere outside of the Fringe Festival?
